Welcome to the Social & Behavioral Sciences (SABS) division of LeMoyne-Owen College where we specialize in fostering Black brilliance!

This division exists to offer a wide variety of liberal arts professional and pre-professional training for students in the various fields of social and behavioral sciences.

Mission

The Social and Behavioral Science (SABS) division is committed to developing the capacities of men and women by helping them develop a social science perspective which will enhance their knowledge and skills preparing them for meaningful participation in life for service, leadership, and life-long learning.

Program Details

Student Preparation

The goals of this division are to prepare students (1) for graduate school and professional schools; (2) viable careers; and (3) community service.

  • To learn more about humans and behavior
  • To learn how to help others
  • To understand thoughts and though patterns
  • To understand history and how it affects present circumstances
  • To understand how our government works and learn how to work in our systems
  • To understand social and cultural forces
  • To understand one’s own cultural and societal world view and be able to relate it to the world view of others
  • To understand the diversity of the human experience
