Applying to college is an important step, and at LeMoyne–Owen College, we’re committed to making the admissions process clear, supportive, and accessible. Whether you’re a first-time college student, transferring credits, or returning to school, this page will guide you through how to apply and what to expect next.

Who Can Apply

LeMoyne–Owen College welcomes students from diverse backgrounds and life experiences. Admissions information is available for:

First-Time Freshmen

First-Time Freshmen – Students entering college for the first time after high school. To be considered for admission, first-time freshmen should submit:

  • A completed application for admission
  • Official high school transcript
  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0
  • Immunization records (after acceptance)

Transfer Students

Transfer students are students transferring credits from another college or university. Transfer applicants should submit:

  • A completed application for admission
  • Official transcripts from all colleges previously attended
  • A minimum 2.0 cumulative college GPA

Transfer credits are evaluated after admission

Readmit Students

LeMoyne–Owen College welcomes former students who are ready to return and complete their degree.

To apply for readmission, students should:

  • Submit a readmission application
  • Provide official transcripts from any institution attended since leaving LOC (if applicable)
  • Resolve any outstanding academic or financial obligations

Once readmitted, students will work with advisors and financial aid staff to develop a plan for re-enrollment and success.

Transient Students

Transient (or visiting) students are those currently enrolled at another college or university who wish to take courses at LeMoyne–Owen College for a specific term.

To apply as a transient student, applicants must:

  • Submit a transient student application
  • Provide proof of good academic standing from their home institution
  • Receive approval to take courses for transfer back to their home institution

Transient students are typically admitted for one semester.

Dual Enrollment

LOC is dedicated to empowering students in Memphis-Shelby County and the surrounding area with college access and experience. Our Dual Enrollment program allows eligible juniors and seniors to take college courses for credit while attending high school.

We currently partner with Hollis F. Price High School and Middle College and actively collaborate with counselors and K–12 leaders to expand college readiness and ease the financial burden of higher education.

How to Apply

Applying to LeMoyne–Owen College is simple:

  1. Submit your application online through the FutureMagician portal
  2. Send required transcripts and documents
  3. Complete the FAFSA to maximize financial aid opportunities
  4. Monitor your application status through your admissions portal

Once your application is complete:

  • Admissions decisions are sent via email, and your portal
  • Accepted students receive the next steps for enrollment
  • You’ll receive information about orientation, advising, and registration
