LeMoyne-Owen College is honored to welcome Angela Rye as the keynote speaker for the 2025 Commencement Ceremony. A renowned political strategist, attorney, and advocate for social justice, Rye is a dynamic voice in national conversations on policy, equity, and civic engagement.
As the founder and CEO of IMPACT Strategies, she has dedicated her career to empowering communities and shaping public policy. A frequent commentator on major news networks, Rye is recognized for her sharp analysis and unwavering commitment to justice.
With a career rooted in advocacy and leadership, Angela Rye continues to inspire change-makers across the nation. We are privileged to have her address the Class of 2025 as they embark on the next chapter of their journey.

Lantern Service
Join us as we honor the Class of 2025 at the Lantern Service, a cherished tradition symbolizing wisdom and transition. This year’s ceremony will take place on Wednesday, May 7, at 6:00 PM at Metropolitan Baptist Church.
We are honored to welcome Dr. Jason A. Mitchell Sr., pastor and founder of perfecting Love Community Church. as our keynote speaker.

Where will the commencement be held?
The 155th Commencement will be held on the historic LeMoyne-Owen College Brownlee Hall Lawn located at 807 Walker Avenue Memphis, TN.
Where is parking?
Parking
Additional parking will be available in the surrounding areas which include:
- Patton Residence Hall, 384 Saxon Ave.
- Metropolitan Baptist Church, 767 Walker Ave.
Main Entry Points
There will be two (2) main entry points for commencement guests. There will be NO entry from Walker Avenue. The two (2) main entry points include:
- Walk through gate from Crown Place (main entry drive)
- Walk through gate between Steele Hall and Library\
Security Checkpoints
Officers will perform security scans and checks upon entrance into Commencement.
What are transportation accommodations?
At each parking area there will be a designated shuttle service to transport guests who need additional accessibility assistance.
What time will the ceremony begin?
The commencement will begin promptly at 9:00 AM. Guests will be allowed to enter the ceremony area beginning at 7:30 AM.
Will Commencement be live streamed?
Commencement will be live streamed and can be viewed on the college’s social media platforms.
